Lavender Art By Patricia Wersinger

Patricia Wersinger grew up in Alsace in the East of France. She works in watercolor, oil and acrylic on paper, canvas and wood panels. Her whimsical illustrations and paintings are a mixture of expressionism, realism, children art, folk art, surrealism, primitive and abstract art. Some paintings are playful and bright, childlike and magical and others dark, grim and enigmatic. The notion of the personal is not popular in our generic, commercial culture but for Patricia the discovery of who she is and what strange and uncommon worlds live within her is what makes every painting an interesting journey. Titillating between realistic conventions and free flowing compositions and abstraction, her visual world represents the diary of an ever evolving self and its unique aspects. Playing with conventional realistic illusions and using them as props reveal invisible unconscious forces as if through a third eye. Patricia thinks that the work of art is a way of breaking with the limits imposed on us from the outside, get beyond the world of appearances to reach to the infinity of truth and harmony. A recipient of the Barbara Susman award, Patricia lives and works in New York City
